NORTH READING — On Thursday, February 8, join Sergeant Derek Howe of the North Reading Police Department at the O’Leary Senior Center, 157 Park Street, at 10:45 a.m. to have “Coffee with a Cop.”

Enjoy light refreshments during this informal and informative meeting.

This month’s topic is domestic violence and how to recognize signs of drug and alcohol abuse in family members. Domestic abuse can take many forms; it is not only physical abuse, but also mental and financial abuse as well.

Sgt. Howe said, “It is important to be able to recognize the signs of substance abuse as early as possible so that assistance can be given to those that need it.”

The discussion will involve difficult topics to examine. However, Sgt. Howe will be able to present ideas so people can realize when it is time to seek help. He will also provide resource material on where to go to get help and will answer questions.

If you have any questions about the program or if you need a ride to the Senior Center call 98-664-5600.
