AMHERST — Phyllis Kenney Anthony, a longtime Wakefield resident, passed away on Thursday, Feb. 12, in Amherst.
She was born in Providence, R.I. on July 29, 1925, to the late Havena (Hopkins) and Gordon B. Kenney. She graduated from Cranston (R.I.) High School and received an associate degree at Lasalle Jr. College in Newton.
Phyllis worked as a secretary at Brown University, M.I.T. and various offices in the Wakefield area.
She married the late Richard P. Anthony in 1954. They enjoyed many years of travel with both family and friends in the U.S., Canada and Europe. She and Richard were very active in the First Parish Congregational Church, Shriners and Masons and the American Airlines Vanguard. She leaves many friends from these groups.
In 2008, after the passing of Richard, she moved to Amherst to be near her grandchildren who brought her great joy.
Phyllis is survived by daughters Linda and her husband Dub of Missoula, Mont. and Carol and her husband Doug of Amherst, and her grandchildren, Charlie and Julia. She is also survived by her brother Dr. Gordon S. Kenney and his wife Bernice of Truro, N.S., as well as many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held in May at the McDonald Funeral Home in Wakefield.
