Hoare-webSTONEHAM — John J. Hoare, 70, of Stoneham, formerly of Wakefield, died at his home on Friday, St. Patrick’s Day, March 17.

Born in Boston, March 28, 1946, he was the son of the late James J. and Mary T. (Walsh) Hoare of Brighton, formerly of Galway, Ireland.

John was a graduate of St. Sebastian’s in Needham, Boston College and Boston College School of Law, where he graduated Cum Laude. He worked as a corporate attorney for the former American Mutual Life Insurance Company for 15 years. He was a co-owner of Atlantic North Seafood in Malden for many years. For the past 25 years, John had his own private law practice.

John was a lifelong Bruins fan. He summered in Gloucester and Rockport since his childhood. John was an avid reader, loved to cook and travel. He enjoyed a good political debate, a good joke and solving the world’s problems. He enjoyed playing the guitar and spending time with his family and friends. His grandchildren were his greatest joy.

John was the loving father of Allyson S. Cellucci and her husband Brian, Jonathan C. Walsh and his wife Stacey, all of Braintree, and the late Joshua S. Walsh. He was the grandfather of Mikayla, Sean, and Jake. He was the former husband of Tamara M. (Welling) Hoare of Wakefield. John was the brother of James R. Hoare and his wife Jane McGuire of West Bath, ME, and the late Paul M. Hoare of Charlestown. He was the brother-in-law of Dagmar (Welling) and the late Fred Brizee of Wakefield, Heidi (Welling) and Michael Tourkistas of Lynnfield, Craig and Joanne Welling of North Carolina, the late Eric Welling of New Mexico and the late Stephen Welling of Marblehead. He also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Patrick Church, 71 Central St., Stoneham on Friday April 28, at 10 a.m. Burial will be private.
